Today we met our friends Suzette, her two kids Riley and Cheyenne, Tess, and her son Leo at a park here in town. We met at 8am (we all homeschool) so that we could beat the heat that is forecasted for today. Suzette, Tess and I were chatting away when Maddie comes running, screaming that Jack's leg was stuck at the top of the slide....so I go running up the slide and crawl through a tunnel to get to him. I analyze the situation and try to get his leg out from between the rungs but it is stuck pretty good. I look at his horror stricken face and then tell him that we just may have to call the fire department. He then starts grinning from ear to ear and says "Mom, that would be so cool!" OK, as a mom I am thinking "Son, don't you ever do this again" but I continue to work with his leg and finally get it free. Jack was a little disappointed that I didn't need to call the fire department but hopefully he knows now it wouldn't be worth it to do it again because I can get him free. Well, my task was done and I decided that rather than climbing back through the tunnel and down the steps, I would just go down the slide. The park that we were at actually caters to older kids so the slide is very steep. I start down it and all of a sudden it occurs to me that if I don't stop at the bottom, the entire world may feel the affects of my landing on the ground at the bottom. My friends Tess and Suzette are not helping the situation because they saw the photo opportunity and got their cameras to prove that I actually did this. Tess emailed me the picture so I thought I would post it for all of you who bug me about not being in any of the pictures I post. Enjoy and cherish it. I am usually the one HOLDING the camera. Ha! :o)
