Today the humidity is a bit lower so I took the opportunity to run a few errands. With Jack's asthma, we have to be very careful when the heat and humidity are high and he has been wheezing some of late. One of our stops was at our eye doctor so that Maddie could get her glasses adjusted (we seem to do this every couple weeks...the joys of having a child with glasses). As we were just getting into the van, this HUGE green bug landed on the windshield. Of course that does NOT go unnoticed by Jack, so mama had to round up a ziplock bag and then gracefully (ok, so I scooped him up) placed him the bag to bring home. We put some holes in the bag of course so he wouldn't expire on us during the ride home. I asked Jack if he had a name for the bug and he said yes. His name is just Buggy. :o) Upon getting him home, we placed him in a jar so we could get a good look at him and take pictures. Then Jack decided Buggy really needed to be outside so we took a few pix of Jack holding him before we let him fly away. We aren't quite sure what kind of bug he is other than more than likely from the grasshopper family. We will do some looking up of bugs in our bug books to see if we can figure it out.

Thanks to Mrs. Rinehart, we found out this bug is a Leaf Grasshopper. Thanks Tess!!!
The Leaf Grasshopper is also known as a Katydid.
Whatever you do, don't tell Jack that grasshoppers are eaten my people all over the world....he may get ideas!
