Wow! It's Patch the Pirate!

Today at a wedding we attended (see next blog post) the kids had the privilege of meeting one of their heroes, Patch the Pirate, aka Ron Hamilton. Of course he was not in his pirate costume so he didn't look very "piratey" but that is OK with them! Ron Hamilton lost one of his eyes to cancer many years ago and kids started calling him Patch. Since he is very musically talented, he decided to create musical drama's for kids (see the Majesty Music link in our homeschool links section) and has many of them. Our kids have most of them and love to use their imaginations as they listen to the stories. I wish I could have gotten a picture of Jack's face when Captain Patch got up to play his trombone in the wedding...it was priceless! Captain Patch loves it when kids come to talk to him when he is out and about and he was more than willing to let us snap this photo of him with the kids. The kids also got to meet other characters from the Patch the Pirate CD's. Maddie spent a long time chatting with Princess Pirate (Patch's youngest daughter who is in her 20's now), Sissy Seagull (Patch's wife), PJ Pirate (Patch's son), and Peanut Pirate (one of Patch's other daughters). Not present were Pixie and Peewee Pirate because they are married and had other commitments so they couldn't make the trip from Greenville to be at the wedding.
