You Did What?
John told me what he and Jack did while Maddie and I were at the church luncheon on Saturday. Now I know why it is best that mom's don't know the plans of their husbands when they are going to be gone. John asked Jack what he wanted for lunch and he said Red Lobster so they both split a 30 shrimp dinner and the waiter didn't charge them for an extra applesauce and drink so it was actually relatively cheap for the two of them. Then they went to the train yard and watched trains switch tracks for a while. When they got home, Jack asked if they could go to the parking lot by us to ride bikes (we do that a lot). John then asked Jack if he wanted to bike up to the park. Of course Jack thought that would be great fun so they crossed a major intersection at Locust and Main Street to get there...like I said, I am glad I didn't know they were going to do this. While John is telling me this, Jack pipes in with "and we got to see Cinders!" Cinders is a HUGE great Dane that one of our former tenants has. So I nonchalantly said "Oh, Cinders was at the park?" Jack said "No mom, we went to Cinders house on our bikes!" This is where I nearly had heart failure. You see, that had to cross Brady St. to get to Mr. Pat's house to see Cinders...for those of you unfamiliar with our fair city, Brady St. is a 4 lane one way that is also known as highway 61. Needless to say, I am very thankful they made it back OK. Jack had no trouble staying in bed Saturday night either. I think he was asleep BEFORE he hit his pillow.
