Yesterday I was curious about Maddie's height because she has grown almost 3 inches since Christmas. I measured her and she is a whopping 52" tall without shoes on (5 more inches and she won't need a booster seat in the van per Iowa law). I then went online and checked what percentile she is in for height and weight. She is in the 97% range for both! So then I get even more curious. She is actually average height and weight of a 9 (yes, NINE) year old girl. Look out daddy, Maddie is going to give you a run for your money in the height department! In fact, I have begun sewing Maddie more summer dresses and shorts for our beach trip because the ones she started wearing 2 months ago are too short and too small already. And don't even get me started on shoes! She has gone from size 2.5 to a size 4 in just 2 months time as well! We have a pair of ice skates that I picked up at a resale shop, brand new mind you, for $3 that are a women's size 5. She tried them on the other day and is within about a half inch of being able to wear them comfortably. Here I thought we would have another winter before she could wear them! She is very excited because our pastor's daughter, Joy, has told her she would teach her to ice skate on the lake that is by their house this winter. It is a good thing we have talented friends!!!
Jack is on the tall end of the scale too for his age. He is in the 86% for boys. I bet he will catch Maddie at some point since boys tend to grow taller at a slower pace than girls when they are younger. He is in the 76% for weight so for his height, he is right on target there. Lucky for us though, boys clothes are made a bit looser and longer than girls clothes so we haven't had to replenish is wardrobe yet. Shoes though we have had to update one size since April.
